Daily Harvest Review (Nut-Free Cups)

Prior to ordering my first Daily Harvest box, I had heard nothing but amazing things about the brand. For a while, I was hesitant to order because I was under the assumption that the Daily Harvest products contained nuts or at least had a high risk for cross contamination. I started doing more research and found that Daily Harvest offers PLENTY of delicious, nut-free options. Since ordering, I’ve also learned that all of their nut-free cups are produced on separate equipment, which is a MAJOR WIN.

So here you have it, my favorite nut-free Daily Harvest cups –


Soups

Tomato + Zucchini Minestrone

Ingredients: organic zucchini, organic tomato paste (organic tomato paste, citric acid), organic kale, organic cooked garbanzo beans, organic sun-dried tomatoes (organic sun dried tomatoes, salt), organic lemon juice, garlic, Himalayan pink sea salt, black garlic powder, rosemary, organic cayenne, organic peppercorns, organic basil, oregano

NFM Tip: This was definitely my favorite Daily Harvest cup, I knew I would love it, so I legitimately ordered 3 cups in my first box (lol). The chickpeas kind of give off a pasta illusion and I also loaded on the Parmigiano-Reggiano because why not. If you’re dairy-free or vegan I’m sure something like Daiya would work just as well.

 

Mushroom + Miso

Ingredients: organic butternut squash, organic white miso (organic whole soybeans, organic rice, sea salt, water, koji spores), shiitake mushrooms, crimini mushrooms, organic spinach, organic tamari (water, organic soybeans, salt, organic alcohol (to preserve freshness), ginger, organic dulse, green onions, reishi mushroom, chaga mushroom, hijiki seaweed

NFM Tip: This was FAB end of story. Better than any ramen I’ve ever had, except maybe Chuko in Bushwick, but definitely the best at home option. The suggestion I have is to make sure you mix the soup well after heating it, so all of the flavors combine evenly. I definitely ate some miso chunks the first time I made it but still not complaining. Also, I added some gochujang sauce because I’m all about the spice and addicted to umami flavors.

 

Lentil + Mesquite Chili

Ingredients: organic green lentils, sweet potato, purple corn, organic kale, organic tomato paste (organic tomato paste, citric acid), onion, organic mesquite flour, garlic, organic cacao powder, Himalayan pink sea salt, green onions, organic cilantro, organic chipotle chiles, organic cumin, organic peppercorns, cinnamon

NFM Tip: Okay since I’m all about the honesty, I wasn’t a huge fan of this soup. I loved Daily Harvest instantly because I thought their flavors were so spot on and this one just fell a little short. I would suggest this cup as more of a side dish, also think it could’ve been made 1000% better by adding sour cream, cheddar cheese, salsa, guacamole etc. #healthy, but I don’t know that’s just me, I’ll for sure try it out and get back to you.

Harvest Bowls

Quinoa + Chipotle

Ingredients: white, red and black quinoa, organic zucchini squash, organic tomato (tomato, calcium chloride), organic kale, purple corn, onion, organic green bell peppers, organic tomato paste (organic tomato paste, citric acid), organic mesquite flour, garlic, organic cacao beans, Himalayan pink sea salt, green onions, organic cilantro, organic chipotle chiles, organic cumin, organic peppercorns, cinnamon

NFM Tip: I liked this bowl a lot too and could also see it being a good side dinner dish. Other suggestions would be to of course add avocado/guacamole or some protein (chicken, beef, tofu, veggie burger). Next time, I want to try to make veggie tacos with this bowl as well because I think it’d be super yummy and Siete tacos are BAE.

 

Butternut Squash + Chimichurri

Ingredients: buckwheat, organic butternut squash, shiitake mushrooms, crimini mushrooms, organic spinach, organic extra virgin olive oil, organic cilantro, garlic, organic parsley, shallot, Himalayan pink sea salt, organic lemon juice, organic cumin

NFM Tip: I found this harvest bowl to be super filling, perfect for lunch in the office with a little Trader Joe’s green sriracha drizzle and some avocado on top. Honestly, just typing about it right now is making me hungry and I can’t wait for my next Daily Harvest box to arrive, so I can DIG IN.

 

Cauliflower Rice + Kimchi

Ingredients: cauliflower, organic kimchi (organic Napa cabbage, organic carrot, organic scallion, sea salt, organic garlic, organic ginger, organic cayenne pepper, organic chili pepper), organic carrots, organic kale, water, organic tomato paste (organic tomato paste, citric acid), organic tamari (water, organic soybeans, salt, organic alcohol [to preserve freshness]), green onions, organic toasted sesame oil, ginger, garlic, organic sesame seeds, gochugaru dried chiles, organic dulse powder

NFM Tip: As you may know, I currently work at Mother-in-Law’s Kimchi so best believe your girl topped this bowl with more kimchi and gochujang. Daily Harvest suggests adding a fried egg and tofu to jazz it up as well. It legitimately tastes like kimchi fried rice so if you’re into that then 10/10 recommend.

Smoothies

*This section is smaller because a lot of the smoothie options I would’ve wanted to order unfortunately contained nuts. However, I am pumped to try the new protein smoothies (shout out Oats + Cacao and Black Sesame + Banana).

Acai + Cherry

Ingredients: dark sweet pitted cherries, organic blueberries, organic bananas, organic raspberries, organic acai (acai, citric acid), organic kale

NFM Tip: Daily Harvest suggests a lighter liquid (like coconut water) to add to this smoothie before blending. I just used regular skim milk, but I think any liquid works fine depends on the consistency and flavor you’re looking for. To be honest, I think I added The Amazing Chickpea Butter into this as well which may sound weird to you, but I put non-nut butter in everything so let me live my life.
